Balconie Street looking West, Evanton

This photograph shows a view looking west through Balcony Street in Evanton, Ross-Shire. The current town was founded in the early nineteenth century by Evan Fraser of Balconie, after which the street was named. Some of the village's main buildings, however, date from the Victorian era.

There was an RAF airfield constructed near the town in 1922, and it was named Novar Base, after the Novar Estates on which it was situated.
