This photograph shows a view of Bridge Street in Inverness, before its reconstruction during the 1960s. Reconstruction commenced with the demolition of all the buildings on the right and the widening of Upper Bridge Street at Exchange Place. In 1968 some of the buildings on the left side of Bridge Street were demolished to make room for the headquarters of the Highlands and Islands Development Board. Bank Street was also affected during this period of redevelopment
