Corner of Bridge Street and Castle Road, Inverness

This photograph shows the corner of Bridge Street and Castle Road in Inverness. The photograph was taken during the construction of a new bridge across the River Ness and the wooden huts shown in the photograph were used by the bridge work crew. The new Ness Bridge was officially opened in 1961 and replaced an earlier suspension bridge that was demolished in 1959.

The buildings on the left were demolished during the early 1960s, during a phase of reconstruction to Bridge Street. To the right is Inverness Castle, built between 1833 and 1848.
