Northern Meeting Rooms, Church Street, Inverness, prior to demolition

A view of the Northern Meeting Rooms. The structure originally had a projecting canopy supported by columns on the pavement. The rooms were built by the Northern Meeting Society in 1790, two years after the Society was founded. The Society's annual ball was the highpoint of the social calendar in Inverness and was occasionally attended by members of the royal family. The rooms were finally demolished in 1962.
