Loch Kinellan at Strathpeffer

Loch Kinellan is a small loch near Strathpeffer. The spa town of Strathpeffer grew around the discovery of sulphurous springs in the 1770s, and continued to grow with the coming of the railway in 1885. A branch of the Clan MacKenzie made Kinellan their seat before building Brahan Castle.

This photograph is from the book 'Picturesque Ross-shire, Strathpeffer and Dingwall' published in Dingwall, circa 1900
