The King's Stables, or Prince Charles' Stables, were located to the west of the battlefield at Culloden. The cottage is said to have housed some of the Government cavalry after the battle in 1746. The cottage was presented to the National Trust for Scotland by Hector Forbes of Culloden in 1944
