This copy of a Roman horsehead is on display in the Main Hall of Inverness Town House.

The plaque reads 'Städtefreundschaft 30 Jahre Augsburg - Inverness 1986'
It was presented to Inverness on the thirtieth anniversary of the town's twinning with Augsburg, Germany.

The original Roman horsehead, believed to date from the time of the Emperor Hadrian (117-138 AD), was found on 20th September 1769, in the Werbach River in Augsburg. It is cast in bronze and was originally covered in gold leaf, remnants of which are still preserved. It is kept in the Roman Museum in Augsburg.
