Photograph taken during a shinty match between Kyles Athletic and Newtonmore in 1955. Newtonmore, playing in hoops, won the game 5-2. The photograph shows Gaby Fraser scoring Newtonmore's third goal. The other Kyles player pictured is Celestine 'Celly' Paterson, the team's goalkeeper.

Newtonmore Camanachd was founded in 1895 and is one of the most successful clubs in the history of the sport. At the time of writing (2010) they have won the sports premier competition, the Camanachd Cup, on 28 occasions.

Kyles Athletic play at Tighnabruaich on the Kyles of Bute and were founded in 1896. They have won the Camanachd Cup on 20 occasions putting them third on the list of all-time winners (as of 2009), behind Kingussie and Newtonmore.
