The Campbell sisters from Dornie, Achiltibuie

Four of the five Campbell sisters from Dornie, Achiltibuie. From left to right are Bessie, Anna, Bella and Babs. Their other sister Jessie and their two brothers, John and George, do not appear in the picture.

The family had a general merchants business at Dornie, known locally as Dornie Shop (the family were known as Campbell Dornie). Jessie, Bella, John and George ran the shop while the other sisters lived and worked in the west of Scotland and Glasgow area.

The shop was owned by the family for 120 years and it was thought to be one of the earliest shops to give credit in Ross-shire. It closed in the late 1960s, probably in 1968, shortly after the death of John.

None of the seven Campbells ever married.
