He was married to Barbara Maciver who came from Scoraig and farmed Isle Ewe in Loch Ewe and Auchtercairn near Gairloch. The Macivers were a well-established family of merchants living in Scoraig on Little Loch Broom in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Barbara Maciver's aunt was a well known Lochbroom District Nurse Nina Mackenzie.
