The Lochbroom, at Ullapool Pier

This postcard shows the steamer 'Lochbroom' at Ullapool Pier. The S.S. Lochbroom, an iron ship, was built in 1871 by Elders of Govan for the Aberdeen Steam Navigation Co. Ltd. The MacBrayne ferry company bought her in 1931 as the 'City of London' and renamed her. The Lochbroom was purchased to replace the Claymore on the Glasgow to Lochinver route, carrying passengers and freight for west coast ports.
