This photograph shows the launching of a fyfie, a type of fishing boat which originated in the east of Scotland. Scottish fisherman used it from around the middle of the 19th century until late into the 20th century. The boat is called 'White Heather' and has the registration number UL 218. The boat is owned by the Muir brothers, the two men who are seated in the vessel.
