The current building at Kingussie High School was opened in October 1970. As part of the celebrations to mark the 40th anniversary in 2010, several pupils at Kingussie High School recently took part in oral history recordings during the school's activity weeks at the end of the academic year.

In this extract, Alice Fenton is being interviewed by Sophia Burnett.

Interviewer: What is your name and age and what year are you in?

Alice: I'm called Alice Elizabeth Fenton, I'm thirteen years old and I'm in year two.

Interviewer: Where do you live and how do you get to school?

Alice: I live in Kingussie and I go in my Mum's car to school.

Interviewer: What do you wear to school and are you happy with the school uniform?

Alice: I don't like the uniform because it's very boring because it's black and white. And I wear a tie and a dress and leggings and Ugg boots and that's about all.

Interviewer: What do you do at the interval and lunch time and what do you usually eat?

Alice: I go for a walk down the street or I sit in the shelter area with my friends, and I eat macaroni pies and chocolate and juice from Murchies.

Interviewer: Do you ever play any games or sports at school, either before classes, or at interval or at lunch time?

Alice: No, not really.

Interviewer: What are your favourite subjects at school and what don't you like?

Alice: I don't like any subjects and I want to leave school.

Interviewer: Which teacher do you think you'll remember once you've left school and why.

Alice: I'll remember Mr Norris and Mrs Mossman because they make me laugh.

Interviewer: What do you hope to do when you leave school?

Alice: I hope to go to college and study nursing.

Interviewer: Ok.
