Station Hotel, Fort William

The Station or Railway hotel in Fort William, now named the Highland Hotel, is a grand and stately building located in Fort William, in the shadow of Ben Nevis. Completed in February 1895, the hotel was designed to provide respite for railway travellers, many of whom were tourists who now found it easier to visit the Highlands after the development of the railways..

There were further additions to the building in February 1901 and restorations were completed around 1919-1920. With its elevated surroundings providing views across Loch Linnhe, the hotel offers a glimpse into travel and tourism in the Highlands at the turn of the century.
