Letter from Cameron of Lochiel to Lady Hermione Cameron, 14 October 1914 (1 of 2)

This letter was written by Donald Walter Cameron of Lochiel at Maida Barracks, Aldershot, to Lady Hermione Cameron at 4 Carlton Terrace, Edinburgh on 14 October 1914. The following is a transcript of the parts of the letter which relate to the war:

hat report about Allan [Captain Allan Cameron, Lochiel's brother] being in hospital at Versailles was absolutely false. Ralph Campbell wired out & found there was no-one of that name there. Also he telephoned down, the report you saw in the Morning Post was equally unfounded.

I must say I never built up very much hope in that report...
