Cameron of Lochiel to Lady Hermione Cameron, 24 November 1914

This letter was written by Donald Walter Cameron of Lochiel at Maida Barracks, Aldershot, to Lady Hermione Cameron at Buchanan Castle, Drymen on 24 November 1914. The following is a transcript of the parts of the letter which relate to the war:

Just a line to let you know all is well. I believe the scare is over but we are still semi-mobilized. Now don’t let anyone know this or I shall be tried & shot for divulging military plans & operations likely to be of service to the enemy!!

Thank you so much for your darling letter. I return Lady Mary’s letter.

I saw Woodlands & did not like it much. It is very badly equipped with crockery & kitchen utensils.
