"The Girl and the Attic" was a Commended entry in the Primary Schools section of the 2015 Neil Gunn Writing Competition. It was written by Aine Maclennan, a pupil at Beauly Primary School.

This year the theme for primary school entrants was "The stone stair would upward..." (from Wild Geese Overhead).

The Neil Gunn Writing Competition is organised by library staff from High Life Highland in partnership with the Neil Gunn Trust. It was first established in 1988.
