This photograph shows group of people in the Reactor Hall at Dounreay. As well as members of the power plant's staff the group includes some members of Thurso Town Council.

The Dounreay Dome was the first Prototype Fast Breeder Reactor to produce electricity for the national grid. It was constructed between 1955 and 1958. Until its closure in 1977 it played an important part in the world's fast reactor research by developing fuel designs, coolant technology, efficient reprocessing and nuclear waste management.
