A view of Isle of Horisdale from the Shieling, at Badachro.
The Isle of Horrisdale, along with Dry Island, was the location of one of the two cod curing stations in the region, where fish was brought in from Gairloch and the surrounding communities to be dried.
The cod fishing industry has long since declined, but lobsters, crabs and prawns are still landed at the village, bound for markets in the south and in Europe. The village's excellent harbour means that it is also a popular anchorage for yachts.
