A black and white photograph showing Mr and Mrs MacAulay outside their cottage, near Laide, which is located on the A832 north of Loch Ewe and west of Little Gruinard. Mr MacAulay can be seen sitting reading a book to the right of the entrance, while Mrs MacAulay looks up from working at her loom on the left. It is evident that their cottage is a blackhouse, as seen from large, rough cut rocks of the structure and the thatched roof, which can be seen protruding on the upper-left of the photograph.
