A Steam train leaving Achnasheen, 1958

A photograph, taken in 1958, of a steam train departing from Achnasheen. Two children can be seen watching the train as it passes.

Achnasheen is a small village in Ross-Shire and also the name of a postal district which covers several larger communities. The village was an important stop on the Kyle of Lochalsh Line. The railway still operates but most goods and passengers now travel by road.
