This painting of John Kirk (1785-1863) hangs in the Town Hall in Wick. Kirk was a merchant and Provost of the town from 1833 to 1836. He was also the first chairman of the Wick and Pulteneytown Chamber of Commerce and an honoured citizen, distinguished for his philanthropy and public services to the community.
