Lloyd George was leader of the Liberal Party and Prime Minster of a National Coalition government from December 1916 to October 1922. The coalition comprised the Liberal and Conservative parties.

This photograph was taken near Gairloch where Lloyd George liked to holiday. It was during this visit that he heard that Ireland had rejected the King and Empire and he called the cabinet at Inverness, the first time it met outside London.
