A view of the ferry boat at Kyle of Lochalsh, pulled up onto the shore. A carriage has been loaded onto the ferry, and the boat is powered by oar and sail.
A ferry has crossed from Kyle of Lochalsh to Kyleakin in Skye, since at least the seventeenth century. Since the completion of the Skye Bridge in 1995, ferries have ceased to make the journey.
