The Highland Council Archive holds several court records concerning Angus Bain Kennedy, a piper living at Pitmaglaister, Glengarry, who was sentenced to death for theft, but later pardoned on condition that he was transported. This is part of a letter dated 20 March 1755 at Edinburgh, addressed to the Provost and Magistrates of Inverness stressing the importance of making very clear to Angus Bain Kennedy that he must comply with the transportation pardon, or he will once again face execution
