Application for Warrant for William Tolmie, 4 July 1775, p2

This is a petition and complaint from Alexander Baillie to the Hon. Sherriff Depute of the County of Inverness, dated 4 July 1775. It states that in December 1773 William Tolmie stole a cow from Angus MacPherson, and in January or February 1774 he stole a grey mare from Andrew MacPherson in Belladheg.

'And besides it is further informed that the said William Tolmie is habite and repute a person of bad fame and a Common Theeff'.

This complaint forms the basis of an application for a warrant to search for and apprehend William Tolmie.
