This note, dated 5 July, appears on the reverse of the document granting warrant to the sheriff officers to search for and apprehend William Tolmie, accused of theft.
The note records that James Simson one of the 'Burrow' officers of Inverness and keeper of the Tolbooth, has William Tolmie prisoner in the Tolbooth. The statement is witnessed by Donald McQueen (who signs himself 'Donal McQuinean', with the 'c' over the 'M', in a very different hand to the Donald McQueen overleaf) and John Stewart.
