Memo Subject: Pipers

Memo sent to Commanders of 1, 2 & 3 Zones and all Battalions, from the Colonel. The memo suggests that Home Guard Battalions having their own pipers would be "a great help at Battalion and Company Parades, as well as useful for Dances and Concerts."

Memo states that there must be men who can play the pipes, though they might be out of practice, and there must be pipes lying unused that could be put to use.

The Colonel suggests that the "Army Manuel of Pipe Tunes and Drum Beatings" would be useful to overcome any minor differences in the settings of tunes. If the commanders are in agreement then a Music Committee is to be set up to raise funds for the supply of reeds, bags etc.
