Secret Letter: Road Blocks

Letter from A.W.Vickers, G.S.O. III, Sutherland Sub-Area, Station Hotel, Alness.
To Capt Ian McHardy, County Offices, Wick.

Letter outlines a new idea from Scottish Command for road blocks, specifically road blocks planned with old cars, lorries or heavy farm carts. Scottish Command recommends filling these vehicles with a mixture of volatile substances for added stopping power.

It was suggested that derelict vehicles be filled with:

10 Gallons Tar,
20 Gallons of petrol,
20 Gallon mixture (25% petrol, 75% Gas Oil)
2 Bags of Sawdust
10 lbs Gunpowder
Old Motor Tyres
Old Sacking (saturated with gas oil) to fill any available space
