Petition of John Bain for Poor Relief

John Bain's letter to the parochial board informing them that he is looking after Ann McKay who is ninety-five years of age. He had already been receiving relief from the board but things had now changed.

"Infirmities of age, helplessness, and second childhood," meant that the provision was now inadequate for the amount of care Ann McKay now required. Mr. Bain states that she now requires "nursing in a way and to a degree that few would be disposed to furnish."

So Mr Bain requests an increase in the allowance from the parochial board.

The inspector is instructed to give 2/- but not to enter it in the roll.
