Recruiting bill for Inverness Militia. Formed in 1802 as the Inverness, Banff, Elgin and Nairn Militia, recruits were sent on annual training camps which were run on a military basis. During their time with the Militia, soldiers were classed as reservists and could be called upon when required. In 1908 the Inverness Militia was reorganised as the Special Reserve but was still attached to the regular army regiments
