Highland Strathspey & Reel Society, accounts sheet, 1935

Strathspey and Reel Societies have been a common feature of the traditional music scene in Scotland since the formation of the first society in Edinburgh in 1881. The Highland branch was formed in 1903. One of its founder members, Alexander Grant (also known as 'Battan') was leader of the society right up until his death in 1942, a period of almost forty years.

This accounts sheet dated 25 September 1935 shows a subscription list in aid of a wreath etc., in memory of the late Mr. David McCaskill. Donations from members of the Highland Strathspey and Reel Society amount to £5 12s. Included in the list are donations from Alexander Grant and Donald Riddell
