Strathspey and Reel Societies have been a common feature of the traditional music scene in Scotland since the formation of the first society in Edinburgh in 1881. The Highland branch was formed in 1903. One of its founder members, Alexander Grant (also known as 'Battan') was leader of the society right up until his death in 1942, a period of almost forty years.
This programme is for a Highland Strathspey and Reel Society Concert held on 12 July 1935 in the Town Hall, Inverness. Tickets are priced at one and two shillings and the accompanist is Miss Florence M. Miller
