Letter to Secretary, Highland Strathspey & Reel Society, 3 Nov 1936

Strathspey and Reel Societies have been a common feature of the traditional music scene in Scotland since the formation of the first society in Edinburgh in 1881. The Highland branch was formed in 1903. One of its founder members, Alexander Grant (also known as 'Battan') was leader of the society right up until his death in 1942, a period of almost forty years.

This letter dated 3 November 1936 is from Archibald MacGillivray, Honorary Secretary of the Inverness Choral and Orchestral Society, to the Highland branch Secretary, Mr. John Fraser. Mr. MacGillivray requests that the Highland Strathspey and Reel Society assist at the forthcoming Annual Scottish Concert of the Choral Society
