Cameron of Lochiel to Lady Hermione Cameron, 11 September 1914 (2 of 2)

This letter was written by Donald Walter Cameron of Lochiel at Maida Barracks, Aldershot, to Lady Hermione Cameron at Buchanan Castle, Drymen on 11 September 1914. The following is a transcript of the parts of the letter which relate to the war:

...Company in this Battalion & there is a University Company forming in the 6th Battalion. Most splendid fellows.

Did you tell your father about MacIntyre. The sooner he gets here the better as we can them get him gazetted.

After a great deal of trouble I got Mackintosh appointed to command 6th Battalion after he had asked me to do it. And now he wires saying he does not want it. I don't think he realizes the chance he is throwing away. Anyway, I have wired him to ask him to reconsider his decision...

Do send me the local papers & any cuttings of interest about the battalions I am missing.
