Prince Charles, the Duke of Rothesay, received the Freedom of Caithness from Highland Council at a ceremony in Wick. The award was made in recognition of his long association with, and commitment to, the County of Caithness.

The Duke's grandmother, the Queen Mother, had been given the Freedom of Wick in 1956 and the Freedom of Caithness in 1990.
