This image shows a military motor vehicle drivers license, dated from 1941. The license is issued to John Gordon of the Royal Signals and entitles him to drive in Malaya. Signalman John Gordon was from Muir-of-Ord, Ross-shire, and while serving with the 9th Indian Division at Kuala Lumpur, was captured by Japanese soldiers. He spent several years as a prisoner of war, before being released in September 1945. After the war years, John Gordon went on to become the proprietor of the music shop, 'The Record Rendezvous', located at Church Street, Inverness.
