Election Address - Eneas W. MacKintosh of Raigmore, 1868

This is the election address of Eneas William MackIntosh of Raigmore, the Liberal Party candidate for the Inverness Burghs at the General Election of 1868. The sitting Liberal MP, Alexander Matheson of Ardross, had opted instead to contest the neighbouring seat of Ross and Cromarty. Charles Fraser MacKintosh of Drummond declined a request to stand and Eneas MacKintosh was elected unopposed.



In the election as a whole the Liberals, led by William Gladstone, increased their majority over the Earl of Derby's Conservatives to 116 seats, gaining 61.5% of the vote
