A Gipsy Moth over Inverness

This photograph shows a de Havilland DH 60 Gipsy Moth flying over Inverness in August 1986. The aircraft originally belonged to Miss Heloise "Hailo" Pauer from Trentham in Staffordshire. Miss Pauer was a close friend of Captain Edmund Ernest "Ted" Fresson and together they toured the country looking for potential joy-riding sites.

Fresson was the managing director of Highland Airways which he founded in 1933. He bought the Gipsy Moth from Miss Pauer in June 1934. The aircraft is still flying.
