Tha a' chuibhreann chlaistinneach seo o 'Rivers Runnin Far' le Hugh Allison, foillsichte an 2005. Tha e air a leughadh an seo leis an ùghdar.

'Stand on the crest of the Gleniffer Braes above Elderslie, in that place between night and day. That tremulous moment just before dawn breaks. Stand there facing west, as time hangs suspended like an indrawn breath, and all is in darkness.

Suddenly, not degree by slow degree, but rather, all at once, come all as if unbidden, you can see the shape of the mountains of the west. Then, as the morning lightens at your back, the detail washes into the landscapes before you, like a picture being painted while you watch.

Here you stand, in the land of the ancient Britons, looking west to Argyll of the Scots, which writer/historian Marion Campbell called 'the Enduring Heartland'. But all directions are equally rewarding. This vantage point affords views north, south, east, and west, over a land steeped in history, and rich in tales. Finn and Ossian from the Celtic Myth Cycles bestrode those distant hills, whilst Elderslie, at the foot of the Brae on which you stand, was the birthplace of that Scottish icon, William Wallace., The struggles of the past have provided more than their fair share of great figures, and this has been a land fit for heroes.

But there have been times when this was not so!'

Rugadh is thogadh Hugh G Allison ann an Loch Abar. Ann an 1977 chaidh e gu Oilthigh Ghlaschu ag ionnsachadh mu Chruinn-eòlas is mu Chlach-eòlas, agus greis às dèidh sin (2008) cheumnaich e le BA on Oilthigh Fosgailte, an Open University. Bha e ag obair an toiseach aig Bùird Thurasachd, an uair sin aig Comhairle Sgìre Inbhir Narann, na Oifigear dhaibh bho 1983 airson Turasachd is Fèisteas.

Phòs Ùisdean ann an 1986, agus thogadh an dithis nighean aige ann an Inbhir Narann. Dh'fhuirich e aig a' Chomhairle tro ath-eagrachadh riaghaltais ionadail, ag obair aig Comhairle na Gàidhealtachd gu ruig 2000. Rè 'n àm sin chuidich e gus a' chiad Gheamachan a-riamh a bh' aig Moscow a chur air bhonn, agus chaidh a chur air fo-fhastadh gu àireamh de phròiseactan sa Chuimrigh agus ann an Ameireaga a Tuath.

Ann an 2001 ghabh e obair le Urras Nàiseanta na h-Alba ann an Cuil Lodair. Fhad 's a bha e leis an Urras bha e a' stiùireadh an dà chuid, Àrach Bhlàir Chuil Lodair agus Caisteal Bhrothaigh. Thòisich e cuideachd ri stiùireadh luchd-turais o na bàtaichean chuairtean-mara, agus sgrìobh e trì leabhraichean: 'Roots of Stone' (2004) a' coimhead air farsaingeachd an 2000 bliadhna mu dheireadh de dh'eachdraidh na h-Alba, gu h-àraid an ceangal eadar eachdraidh teaghlaich is eachdraidh nàiseanta; 'Rivers Running Far' (2005) a tha a' sgrùdadh sgaoileadh sluagh na h-Alba, gu h-àraid adhbharan is mar a dh'èirich dhaibh, agus aig an aon àm ag innse mar a rinn Ùisdean gealltainn mar Iar-Shiorram ann an Kentucky fhad 's a bha e ris an rannsachadh aige; 'Culloden Tales' (2007) a tha na eachdraidh den bhatal a tha fìrinneach is furasta ri leughadh, le sgeulachdan on fheadhainn a thadhail air a' mhòintich.
