In the tower of the old High Church over there, there is a coffin and it was a communal coffin which was used to bury the cholera victims. And the last outbreak of cholera took place in the middle of last century [19th century] and the provost of time was a Provost Doctor Nicol and he was a practicing general practitioner and he contracted cholera and died. And incidentally, Provost Nicol did one very good thing; he was responsible for building the retaining wall below the castle at the river side, and if that wall hadn't been built with some of the floods we've had since, the castle would probably have finished up in the river
