Bha Rèile an Eilein Duibh na mheur de Rèile na Gàidhealtachd bho thùs. Bha e a' giùlan luchd-siubhail eadar 1894 agus 1951(bathar gu 1960) agus bha e a' ruith eadar Am Blàr Dubh agus A' Chananaich agus bha e a' stad aig stèiseanan anns a' Chaisteal Dhearg, Alan, Bun Lòchaidh agus Abhach.

San earrainn èisteachd seo bho na 1980an, tha cuideigin a bha a' fuireach san Eilean Dubh a' cuimhneachadh air cuid dhe na bhiodh a' dol air adhart aig an stèisean sa Chananaich.

'When the train was standing at the station they usually went round with a rag and rubbed it up. Everything about the station and the trains were clean. Everything was very clean and tidy; the trains were kept nice and clean and the engine was shining of course, spotless.

We used to go to look at the fireman putting the coal in. He'd open up the big fire and you could see him shovelling in loads of coal. I can't remember the train taking water but some of the trains took water - they must have taken water at Muir of Ord. But at Muir of Ord there was a turntable where they turned the engine and the engine went onto the turntable and then it was turned round for going. Between Dingwall and Strathpeffer the train went backwards, it never turned it just went backwards up to Strathpeffer. But the Black Isle train had a turning table'
