B'e neach-taisbeanaidh às a'cheann a tuath agus pupaidear Punch agus Judy a bh'ann an Uilleam Hay. Bha e bho theaghlach fhèistearan siubhail; thòisich a shìn-seanair, Iain Moireasdan, ann an soirceas Pindar nuair a bha an soirceas air chuairt ann an Cataibh agus bhiodh a sheanair, Uilleam Donnchadh Moireasdan, agus bràthair athar, Donnchadh Moireasadan, a'taisbeanadh chuirmean-cluiche Punch agus Judy ann an Inbhir Nis agus mu chuairt. Bha na Moireasdanaich ainmeil cuideachd airson an sgilean a thaobh a bhith a'seatadh chnàmhan.

Anns an earrann èisteachd seo, tha Uilleam a'bruidhinn mu dheidhinn aon de na cuirmean-cluiche beaga 'Penny Geggies'.

What we used to call the 'Penny Geggie'. That's G.E.G.G I.E., the 'Penny Geggie'. That was where the original pictures came from, in fact, was the 'Penny Geggies'. Now you used to go round the showgrounds, an ye used to get into these back-up shows for a penny - the 'Geggies' we would call them ye know, an ye seen the films? But quite a lot o them didn't bother wi that; they had open air shows. An ye just put up yer screen in the showground, an they went behind the screen, an they put up the cinema an ye had to stand winding away this pictures - silent pictures - an everybody used to crowd round them an see them, oh, for nothing. Of course, ye went roon wi a hat, if ye were lucky ye got a few boab, ye know? But it brought on the crowd. An that's how the old pictures used to start, cause we used to go wurselves round Carrbridge. Oh, I used to take turn aboot winding this thing, ye know? Oh, it used to be tiring on the arms. Penny tae get in, tuppence tae get in. Aye, sort o thing.
