San earrainn claistneachd seo, clàraichte ann an 2006, tha Iain Rothach a bha roimhe na dhròbhair a' bruidhinn air dà mhargadh stuic - Corsons agus Reith agus MacAnndrais - a' tighinn còmhla.

The image shows the staff of Reith and Anderson at Dingwall.
In the rostrum is Donald McCallum, auctioneer. Below, left to right are Alistair Mackay (yardsman), Daniel Corbett (livestock dealer), Peter Finlayson (livestock dealer), Alick Fraser (auctioneer), Pat Gunn (auctioneer), unknown, unknown, unknown, Jack Ross (head yardsman).

'Now, did anybody tell you why the two marts were joined together at this sales?

Interviewer: Corsons and ?

Reith and Andersons.

Interviewer: No, no.

Well, I think prior to them joining up together for the sales, they used to go round eh, independently, and what happened there, for years, crofters would buy at one sale, not pay them, and sell them when the other group of people came round and lifted the cash. So to get rid of that problem the two auction marts went together, and one auction mart financed the sales one year, and the other mart eh, financed the sales the next, eh, the following year. So that was to get over that problem.

Rugadh Iain Rothach air Tuathanas a' Chnuic Dhuibh, Baile Eòghainn, Siorrachd Rois ann an 1933. Bha athair 's a sheanair nan luchd-malairt cruidh agus chaorach, agus b' ann air sgàth a' cheangail a bh' aig athair ri na ropairean stuic, Reith agus MacAnndrais, a thòisich Iain, nach robh ach aois 11 no 12, a chuideachadh aig fèilltean stuic ann an Inbhir Pheofharain. Aig aois 18, thòisich Iain a dhol a-mach gu na h-Uibhistean na dhròbhair le Reith agus MacAnndrais a chuideachadh aig na fèilltean ràitheil. Aig an àm sin, cha robh goireasan ann airson làraidhean a chur air tìr air na h-eileanan agus mar sin dh'fheumadh an crodh a bhith air an iomain bho na fèilltean gu na bàtaichean, gus an tàinig na h-aiseagan ro-ro ann an 1965.

Ghabh Iain os làimh tuathanas an teaghlaich faisg air Baile Eòghainn ann an 1964 agus bha e ri tuathanachas an sin gu 1984. Lean e air a' cuideachadh aig na fèilltean roip ann an Inbhir Pheofharain nuair a bha feum air. O leig e seachad an tuathanas, tha Iain air fuireach ann an obair co-cheangailte ri tuathanachas, a' dràibheadh làraidhean, a' reic fras fheòir agus a' cuideachadh nàbaidhean agus teaghlach le stoc.
