A short anecdote from Tonkan, about a Harris man who was erecting a gravestone in the churchyard for an old man who had died, but he forgot to bring cement to bed the stone, so he balanced the stone on the grave edge, but it was falling over. So, as there was a telegraph pole there and he had a piece of wire, he bound the wire round to stop the stone falling before he came back with the cement. While he was away a couple came by, one an old man. He asked his friend whose grave that was. The response was that it was an old man who had died a few days back.
'Oh,' said the old man, 'I see he's already had the phone installed!'
