James Radcliffe, 3rd Earl of Derwentwater (1689-1716) was the eldest son of Deward Radcliffe and Lady Mary Tudor, the illegitimate daughter of Charles II.
James Radcliffe spent much of his youth at the exiled court of James Francis Edward Stuart in France. He was a strong supporter of the Stuart's claim to the British throne. He joined the 1715 Jacobite Rising but was taken prisoner at Preston. He was found guilty of treason and was executed.

He was one of only two Peers to be executed as a result of the 1715 Rising.
