The mountains of Scaraben and Morven are found in Caithness. Scaraben rises from the Langwell Forest to a height of 2053ft (626m). It is a long quartzite ridge with three distinct summits. Morven is the highest point in Caithness at 2316ft (706m). Because of its isolated position it can easily be seen as far away as the Moray Firth and on a clear day Orkney can be seen from the top.

This illustration was taken from 'Antiquities and Scenery of the North of Scotland, in a series of letters to Thomas Pennant Esq', by Rev Charles Cordiner, Minister of St Andrew's Chapel, Banff (1780)
