The Golspie Stone is a Class II cross slab. Class II slabs are from the 8th and 9th centuries. They are usually quarried rectangles, carved in relief with a mixture of Pictish and Christian symbols. One side has a cross design and the other has the Pictish symbols. This illustration shows the Pictish side of the slab. At the top there is a rectangular symbol with curled corners. Below that there is a Pictish beast. A man with a T-shaped axe in his right hand and dagger in his left hand is below the beast. The man is facing a monkey-like animal. Below the monkey is a salmon. There is also a flower symbol and a crescent and v-rod. At the bottom is a double-disc symbol. Around the edges of the slab is an ogham inscription.
