This illustration was taken from "Argyll's Highlands" by Cuthbert Bede. It shows a photograph of Campbeltown Loch and Davaar Island, situated on the south-east coast of Kintyre.The sea loch forms an inlet of the Kilbrannen Sound.

Davaar Island is accessible at low tide by a causeway from Campbeltown. Uninhabited except for lighthousemen, the island receives many visitors attracted by a painting of the crucifixion, found in one of the island's seven caves
