Neist Point Lighthouse stands on the cliffs at the most westerly point of the island of Skye. It was built to a design by David A Stevenson and cost £4350. The lantern came from Dove & Co and cost £1100. The light went into operation on 1st November 1909. The tower stands at 19 metres high but because of its position on the cliff it is actually 43 metre above sea level. The lighthouse was automated in 1990.
